Mt Larla Mining circuit

A high level circumnavigation of Mt Larla, the most important iron age mining area in the Basque country. More than 20 centuries of mining activity have left their mark on the mountain where open and subterranean mines, Roman workshops, and an aerial transporter can be seen.

ACCESS

From the fronton in St Martin d’Arrosa, take the road W signed ‘Satali’. Climb steeply and after 2km the car park on the right of the road at Satali has an info panel about the walk.

WALK

Satali 236m 0621891 – 4787802 Continue along the road following the red marks that will guide you today. After 10’ turn left and SW on a stony track just before a bergerie. Climb past mine workings; at a junction turn right then left through a gate and climb NW. After 30’ pass an information panel and come to a grassy col.
